Do your clients get government payments to provide services?

Clients who provide services under the Government Payments Program (GPP) must meet their obligations.

Last updated 28 July 2026

If your clients receive government payments for providing services such as healthcare, disability support or childcare under a Commonwealth program, remind them of their obligation to:

  • keep accurate records
  • report the income they receive at the correct label in their tax return.
  • lodge and pay their tax in full and on time to avoid penalties, interest charges and firmer actions.

We are a member agency of the Fraud Fusion Taskforce which is a multi-agency initiative to combat fraud against government payment programs, such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

These programs help providers deliver important services to Australians. To ensure a level playing field, providers must meet their tax obligations.

Read our updated GPP data-matching program protocol to learn how we’re detecting non-compliance.

Visit Government payments program for information on how your clients can correctly report their GPP income.
