Get involved in the client-to-agent linking pilot

We're seeking tax and BAS agents to participate in our client-to-agent linking pilot.

Published 7 October 2026

The upcoming client-to-agent linking changes for individuals and sole traders are an important step in strengthening the security and integrity of the tax system.

To help ensure a smooth transition, we're looking for registered tax and BAS agents to participate in our pilot program, starting in March 2027, ahead of full implementation in November 2027.

Participating in the pilot will give you the opportunity to:

  • gain early experience with the new process
  • prepare your practice and clients for the upcoming changes
  • provide direct feedback to help the final implementation
  • receive dedicated support from us throughout the pilot.

We're seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) from a broad range of practices, including:

  • sole practitioners
  • small, medium and large practices
  • tax and BAS agents with varying client volumes
  • regional, rural and metropolitan practices.

We particularly encourage participation from agents who expect to take on new individual or sole trader clients during the pilot period. Your involvement will be especially valuable if you support clients who may need assistance interacting digitally, or who cannot interact digitally. This may include individuals in remote locations, temporary and foreign residents, deceased individuals, or other taxpayers with more complex onboarding needs.

By participating, you'll help test the process and contribute to a smoother experience for the tax profession and clients when the changes are introduced more broadly.
