We’ve enhanced the Online services for agents, family trust election (FTE) and interposed entity election (IEE) report to provide more information from elections lodged with us. These enhancements finalise our plans to provide you with more information to help manage your clients’ elections with greater confidence, as we raised in our August 2025 Spotlight on… Assistant Commissioner Amy James-Velagic article.
The updated report builds on what you can already see and makes it easier to check key election details at a glance.
What’s changed for family trust elections
You can already view important information about an FTE, including:
- income year specified
- election commencement date
- specified individual
- date of birth.
With this enhancement, you can now also see:
- the date we received the election
- the form type – election made (E), variation (V), or revocation (R)
- for revocations, the election end year and election end date.
This provides you with more details of the elections your clients have lodged with us, including a clearer picture of when an election was lodged.
What’s changed for interposed entity elections
For IEEs, you can already see:
- income year specified
- election commencement date
- tax file numbers of family trusts
- income year specified in the related FTE
- individual specified in the related FTE.
We’ve added the following details to the report:
- the date we received the election
- the form type – election made (E) or revocation (R)
- for revocations – the election end year.
In providing this information, we make no opinion that all the necessary requirements for making a valid FTE or IEE have been complied with. While record keeping remains an important requirement for electing entities this additional election information will support more complete record keeping.
How this helps you
Having more election details in one place helps you manage your clients' election records.
Our focus is on making it easier for you to support your clients and meet their tax obligations.
You don’t need to take any action as a result of this update. The new information is already available in Online services for agents.
