The USM Protocol that provides information and guidance to APRA funds about their unclaimed super obligations has been updated.
The key changes include:
- a new page, Super interest of members over eligibility age, clarifying the reporting requirements where:
- a member has reached eligibility age,
- no amount has been received for them in the previous 2 years, and
- 5 years have passed since the fund last had contact with them.
- a new Trustee voluntary payments (TVP) page to clarify reporting requirements where a trustee reasonably believes that paying an amount to the ATO is in the best interests of the member, former member, or non-member spouse.
- We have also made some small clarifications and updates to make the protocol easier to read and have archived duplicated content. It is important to note there have been no changes to your SuperStream or USM reporting obligations.
