Clause 1 Short Title
9. The short title by which this Act may be cited is the Australian Citizenship (Transitionals and Consequentials) Act 2005 .
Clause 2 Commencement
10. This clause sets out the commencement arrangements for provisions of the Act. Each provision of the Act specified in column 1 of the table in subclause 2(1) commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2. The commencement of provisions specified in column 1 is also affected by any other corresponding statement in column 2.
11. Item 1 of the table provides that sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Act commence on the day on which the Act receives Royal Assent.
12. Schedule 1 and 2 to the Act commence at the same time as sections 2A to 54 of the Australian Citizenship Act 2005 ('the new Act').
13. Subclause 2(2) provides that column 3 of the table in subclause 2(1) is for additional commencement information that is not part of the Act, and which may be added to or edited in any published version of the Act.
Clause 3 Schedule(s)
14. This clause provides that each Act specified in a Schedule to the Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned. In addition, any other item in a Schedule to the Act has effect according to its terms.
