Crimes Act 1914
The Ombudsman must, from time to time and at least once every 12 months, inspect the records of the Australian Federal Police to determine the extent of compliance with this Part by: (a) the Australian Federal Police; and (b) law enforcement officers of the Australian Federal Police.

For the purpose of an inspection under this section, the Ombudsman: (a) may, after notifying the chief officer of the Australian Federal Police, enter at any reasonable time premises occupied by the Australian Federal Police; and (b) is entitled to have full and free access at all reasonable times to all records of the Australian Federal Police that are relevant to the inspection; and (c) may require a member of staff of the Australian Federal Police to give the Ombudsman any information that the Ombudsman considers necessary, so long as:
(i) the information is in the member ' s possession, or the member has access to the information; and
(d) may, despite any other law, make copies of, and take extracts from, records of the Australian Federal Police.
(ii) the information is relevant to the inspection; and

The chief officer of the Australian Federal Police must ensure that members of its staff, give the Ombudsman any assistance the Ombudsman reasonably requires to enable the Ombudsman to perform functions under this section.
