IDENTITY CARDS
447-5(1)
The Registrar must issue an identity card to an authorised officer. The identity card must contain the information prescribed by the regulations and must contain a recent photograph of the authorised officer.
447-5(2)
A person commits an offence if: (a) the person has been issued with an identity card; and (b) the person ceases to be an authorised officer; and (c) the person does not, within 7 days after so ceasing, return the identity card to the Registrar.
447-5(3)
However, the person does not commit the offence if the identity card was lost or destroyed.
447-5(4)
An authorised officer must carry the identity card at all times when exercising powers or performing functions as an authorised officer.
447-5(5)
An identity card is not a legislative instrument.

A defendant bears an evidential burden in relation to the matter in subsection (3) (see subsection 13.3(3) of the Criminal Code ).
