SECTION 23-15   APPLICATION TO REGISTER AS A PARTICIPANT IN THE PREMIUMS REDUCTION SCHEME  

23-15(1)    
A person may apply to a private health insurer, in the [ast_1]

approved form, to become a [ast_1]

participant in the [ast_1]

premiums reduction scheme in respect of a [ast_1]

complying health insurance policy issued by the insurer if:

(a)    the insurer is a [ast_1]

participating insurer; and

(b)    the person is a [ast_1]

PHIIB in respect of a premium paid or payable under the policy; and

(c)    the person meets any requirements specified in the Private Health Insurance (Incentives) Rules for the purposes of this paragraph.


23-15(2)    
A private health insurer that receives an application under subsection (1) must notify the Chief Executive Medicare of the application no more than 7 business days (or any other period determined by the Chief Executive Medicare under subsection (4) ) after receiving the application.


23-15(3)    
A notice under subsection (2) must:

(a)    be given electronically in accordance with the electronic system approved by the Chief Executive Medicare under section 333-16 for the purposes of this paragraph; and

(b)    include the information required by that system to be included in the notice; and

(c)    be accompanied by any documents required by that system to accompany the notice.


23-15(4)    
The Chief Executive Medicare may, by legislative instrument, determine a different period for the purposes of subsection (2) .
