Subject: GST and bitcoin transactions

The Commissioner has ruled on each of the following questions:

1. Does the Entity make any taxable supply when third parties trade through the bitcoin exchange that it operates?

2. Does the Entity make a taxable supply of bitcoin in the Bitcoin Withdrawal Transaction?

3. Does the Entity make a taxable supply of bitcoin when it undertakes a Bitcoin Buy Transaction?

4. Does the Entity make a taxable supply of bitcoin when it undertakes a Bitcoin Sell Transaction?
